Rare Watch Auction - Own Albert Einstein's Longines

While this post isn't necessarily about replica Watches, we like to report on rare luxury watch auctions to remind us all about how expensive these watches can be. This time, Antiquorum Auctioneers is offering many watches for auction, including the most exciting one (to us at least) - a Longines owned by Albert Einstein.

As you can probably imagine, the highest priced watches are Patek Philippe watches. The cheapest Patek Philippe is estimated at $120,000-160,000 and the most expensive one doesn't have a price listed; if you want a quote you'll have to request one (and probably prove that you have enough to seriously entertain the idea of purchasing it).

There are a few other ultra luxury watches for sale, including an Audemars Piguet "Jules Audemars Tourbillon Repetition", estimated at $150,000-200,000, a few Rolex models, and an A Lange & Sohne "Datograph Perpetual", valued at $60,000-90,000.

The Longines Watch that was owned by Albert Einstein was made in 1930 and presented to him on February 16, 1931. The lucky winner of the auction will receive multiple photos of the watch being worn by Albert Einstein.  Even though the Longines Watch itself is a little dingy and worse-for-the-wear, we can't help but with we had $25,000-35,000 to blow on this watch, being big Albert Einstein fans.

While none of these watches have been replicated (there's not much of a market for extremely rare, obscure models), you can find a good selection of Patek Philippe watches, a few Audemars Piguet watches, and a pretty sad selection of Longines Watches. Judging by the limited amount of Longines models, we can only assume that they're not a very popular replica watch brand. But any watch that's good enough for ol' Al, is good enough for us.
